Magnifying an ESP Effect
an experiment in group precognition

Abstract
The following experiment is based on the observation that over the last 100 years, experiments in extra-sensory perception have consistently yielded a significant effect such that ESP achieves 10-20% greater accuracy than a chance condition. So, ESP is a real phenomena, but it is weak. What this means in practice is that a subject who attempts to predict the Lottery numbers might get one extra number correct using ESP at best.
However the ESP effect is magnified if we look at the predictions of many people who are using ESP. If we find that the same numbers pop up in the predictions of many different people, then these numbers are more likely to be the correct ones. And if a number pops up with a frequency much greater than would be expected by chance, then we would be looking at an instance of ESP.
In this way, a large group can act like a radar dish, focusing and amplifying the faint signals received by individual people.
Method
Participation in this experiment is completely free of charge. Participants practice a technique for entering a mental state known to be conducive to ESP. Then they record the numbers that they think will come up in the lottery. These numbers are combined with the independent predictions of all the other participants, and analysed to determine the most commonly occurring numbers for that week. Then participants are emailed with the result 24 hours before the National Lottery Draw - so the experiment is true test of precognition, and fraud is impossible. Subjects are motivated to participate since they can use the numbers when they buy a lottery ticket.
A website provides instructions to participants for practicing the ESP technique. After practicing the technique, participants enter their email and their individual predictions into the web site database. Participants are completely unaware of the predictions made by other people. On Friday each week, the database analyses all the predictions for that week and generates a list of all the predicted numbers and their frequency of occurrence. This list is then emailed out to all participants 24 hours in advance of the Draw.
The Lottery Draw is at 8pm on Saturday. As soon as the draw is made, the website software analyses the individual scores of each participant and gives them a score out of six. Then the software calculates the consistency of accuracy of each participant over all the sessions they have participated in. This is done so we can identify people who consistently score above chance. Such people might be regarded as gifted with ESP.
For each participant the consistency of their accuracy is calculated as follows -
Their score out of 6 is added
to their Total Score (the total number of correct predictions they have made
in all previous sessions). Then their level of accuracy over all previous
sessions is given by -
Level of accuracy = (Total Score x 100)/(6 x Number of Sessions)
If some individuals consistently score high, then we surmise that they are naturally gifted with an ESP ability, and each week the predictions of this group of high scorers are analysed separately to determine the most commonly occurring numbers amongst them. Participants are also emailed with this result 24 hours before the National Lottery Draw. As each week passes, we should be able to identify the sub group of consistent high scorers more clearly, and this sub group should steadily increase in size as more people participate.
The sub group of high scorers acts as a further incentive for people to participate in the experiment, since all participants receive the 6 numbers predicted most frequently by the gifted sub group each week.

Prediction: Since number of participants is quite low, it is hard to draw any prediction, but multiples of 6 do stand out, in particular the numbers 6 and 12. I shall place my bet on 3, 6, 12, 18, 31, 32.
The Lottery Results for this week were 5, 9, 12, 31, 32, 38, bonus 3
we successfully predicted 3 out
of six numbers + we got the bonus number as well.
We successfully predicted 12, 31, 32 and 3
All participants won £10 each
Not bad for our first trial of the Lottery Experiment
The more people who participate, the greater the accuracy - this is a
mathematical certainty. So please tell all your friends to join in next week.
Many thanks for participating
