Genesis
a surprising confirmation

A straight forward reading of Genesis dates the birth of Adam to about 4004 B.C. This date is arrived at by simply adding the age of each Patriarch.

The Bible describes Adam as a tiller and a gardener, and Adam’s immediate descendents are described as the inventers of metallurgy and the founders of the first cities. Archaeology confirms that around 4000 B.C. metals were discovered and the first cities founded. In-fact, the names of the Biblical cities and their geographical locations do match those places identified by archaeology as the “cradle of civilization”.

So in describing the dawn of civilization, as far as cities, geography and industry are concerned, the key elements of the Biblical narrative seem historically accurate.

However controversy arises when the Bible claims that IMMEDIATELY prior to this dawn of civilization, there was a “Creation Week”. We know from science that life has existed on earth for millions of years. So how do we square the facts of science with the idea that there was a "creation week" just prior to 4000 B.C. In this essay we explore an interesting and novel possibility.
